Hi Friends,

My mom has just started a new chemotherapy treatment series, starting yesterday. The side effects of the treatment include fatigue, possibly some nausea and a weakened immune system (more prone to infection). Like I mentioned before, this is the last treatment option that the oncologist has to offer.

The decision was made after looking at my mom's most recent CT scan taken a couple weeks ago. The scan shows a thickening of the lung wall tissue, and a build up of fluid in the lungs, which basically means that the cancer cells are still active and causing deterioration in her lungs. The last treatment (Iressa) was not showin to be effective, so the doctor did not feel it would be valuable to continue along that path. So far, the lungs seem to be the main area of concern, and the rest of her body has not been seriously affected, which is good.

Please pray for my mom during this time, and for my dad as well. My mom will try to keep up with her daily activities-- her walks, exercise classes etc. My dad is very worried, burdened and stressed out so please pray for him as well. My aunt is still in Toronto, which helps in taking care of my grandmother, but she will likelyleave for Hong Kong by the end of the summer. Thank you in advance for your support and prayers.
