Hello everyone,
Things have been quite busy lately back at home which is why I
haven't been able to update you all very often. Karen is back in
Toronto for a one-month work placement, and work is quickly picking
up for me, so there's a lot going on for everyone in my family. We're
back to a full house of people, which is good but also challenging
for all of us.
Thank you for praying for my mom and for my family. We have felt the
results of your prayers! The first treatment (three weeks ago)
passed quite well, with manageable side effects. So far, it hasn't
been as difficult as the previous chemo treatments, praise God! For
the first couple of days after the treatment, my mom is a bit tired
and her appetite is decreased, but other than that... she's doing
quite well! Amazingly, there is hardly any nausea or vomiting so far,
or other things that we had been expecting.
However, in the last couple of days, my mom has started to experience
the hair loss that we had been warned about. She has a couple of cute
hats to wear around the house and a wig for when she goes out, but as
you can imagine, it's still a very challenging experience to go
through. I think my mom is handling it pretty well and my dad...
moderately well. They'll need an extra measure of emotional strength
and perseverence over the next couple of days, so...
Please keep praying! :) The second treatment is tomorrow and we would
all feel very thankful if the side effects were as minimal as the
last treatment. My dad really needs your support as well... he's
doing better this time around, but the strain on him is still very
apparent. Please pray that we will all keep our eyes fixed on Jesus
Christ. By God's grace the treatments will be effective and my mom's
(and my whole family's) strength and endurance will come from the
Lord.
Thank you for your love and support... we experience it daily! :)
